COMMUNIQUE ISSUED AT THE END OF BRANCH GENERAL MEETING OF ANAMBRA CLO HELD AT IGBO-UKWU TOWN HALL FEGGE ONITSHA.
COMMUNIQUE ISSUED AT THE END OF BRANCH GENERAL MEETING OF ANAMBRA CLO HELD AT IGBO-UKWU TOWN HALL FEGGE ONITSHA.
The Civil Liberties Organization Anambra State Branch held its monthly Branch General Meeting on Tuesday the 14th of October 2008.
The Branch General Meeting (Branch GM), which is the highest descision making body within state branches, made the following observations.
1. That Anambra State is witnessing an upsurge in the activities of fake Human Rights Activists and Pressure Groups with ulterior motives bent on putting undue pressure on the government and working to destabilize the polity.
2. That despite the efforts by Anambra State Government to ensure adequate security of lives and property in the state by providing constant logistic supports to the police, crime still remain unabated with incidences of Armed robbery recorded especially “Okada” robbers.
3. That the delay in the democratization of market leaderships and local governments in the state is not a good development index for the government that has benefited much from Democracy and The Rule of Law.
RESOLUTIONS AND RECOMMENDATIONS
The organization viewed with serious embarrassment the activities of one Mr. Uzor A. Uzor who have been parading himself as an activist and the vice chairman of CLO Anambra State.
CLO therefore, informs the general public that Mr. Uzor Anunihu aka Uzor A Uzor is an impostor and a charlatan often in the habit of deceiving unsuspecting gullible members of the public of being a Human Rights Crusader.
Ever since his business crumbled at Bridge Head drug market and his humiliating defeat in the last general elections of the CLO, Uzor has taken his self styled ‘activism’ as a meal ticket employing all manner of deceit, campaign of calumny and threat as ready tools for his nefarious activities.
The public should therefore beware of the likes of Uzor and his cohorts since they have deviated from the ideal objectives of the CLO
The organization commended Mr. Peter Obi, The Executive Governor of Anambra State for his speedy attention to our recent memo with Intersociety Organization on the need to arrest the protracted crisis at Electronics International market Onitsha.
The setting up of a 5-man panel of inquiry to look into the crisis in the market is a step in the right direction.
We also enjoin the Governor to sustain the tempo and ensure that democracy is enthroned and peace reigns supreme in all the markets in Anambra.
We also deemed it fit to publicize the names and contact numbers of the present executives of Anambra CLO to avoid impersonation by some dubious elements in our society.
