BRUTALITY BY FEGGE POLICE OFFICERS LEAD BY CSP CHRIS UMEGE
BRUTALITY BY FEGGE POLICE OFFICERS LEAD BY CSP CHRIS UMEGE
I read the story as facilitated by the Anambra CLO on the brutality meted out to the Onwuka family by police officers from fegge division. But I beg to disagree with the lies fed to the reporter by an unnamed Policeman that it was CSP Chris Umege’s gallantry that earned him promotion to State command Awka.
The Anambra State branch of the Civil Liberties Organization have been in the forefront in exposing and taming the excesses of our law enforcement agents in the state and even at great danger to our lives, we remain undaunted.
But permit me to ask when brutality, extortion, mass arrest and illegal detention of innocent citizens, muscling the voice of human rights activists, torture and other corrupt practices have become gallantry.
Umege has always boasted that he is untouchable because of his affinity with some superior officers and it seems that his boasting has become reality
His atrocious acts have attracted various litigations from some aggrieved individuals and even now most of the cases are still pending in court.
But we are staking our reputation on the Onwuka family issue because of the great harm done to the innocent family.
We will only be convinced that the Police Service Commission is impartial in the discharge of their duties when justice prevails on this bestial act.
We therefore appeal to Dame Comfort to take special interest in this matter with other members of the Commission to ensure that justice is done.
Mr. Gilbert Onwuka (67) years old partially blind man and his children doesn’t deserve this wicked treatment meted out to them by CSP Chris Umege and his men.
The compendium of our petition and the pictures have been sent to the commission while other relevant agencies were also copied
Justice delayed is justice denied.
Thanks.
